Brooklyn Center apartment fire displaces 27

BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. - Residents from 12 units are displaced following a fire at a Brooklyn Center apartment complex.

Just before 5:30 p.m. Sunday, fire crews were called to Twin Lake North Apartments in the 4500-block of 58th Avenue North. They arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming from two center units on the third floor.

Authorities say everyone got out okay and no one was injured. Crews were able to contain most of the fire damage to the center units. Investigators believe the blaze started on a deck. The fire doesn't appear to be suspicious.

The Red Cross is helping 14 adults and 13 children displaced by the fire.
