Livestock barn destroyed in overnight fire

NEW MARKET TOWNSHIP, Minn. -- An overnight fire destroyed a barn and killed nearly 100 livestock in New Market Township.

The Scott County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the 25000 block of Natchez Avenue around 12:15 a.m. Sunday.

The fire was eventually extinguished by fire crews, but the livestock barn was a total loss. It is believed around 100 chickens and one dog died in the fire.

The Scott County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident.
