Man accused of killing pregnant wife denies involvement

HASTINGS, Minn. - An

Apple Valley man charged with the murder

of his wife and unborn

child took the stand in his own defense on Friday

, saying he did not kill them.

Roger Holland, 37, told jurors that he and his wife Marjorie argued and had financial problems. He also admitted that lied about having a job, but he had an explanation to counter the evidence against him.

Holland says Marjorie often got dizzy and that he came home from a trip to get her breakfast to find her face down at the bottom of the stairs.

He says scratches on his arms and neck happened when the two had sex. He said that the Internet searches police found about killing someone by breaking their neck were related to a Vince Flynn book the couple had read.

The jury of nine women and five men will likely hear closing arguments Monday.
