Man rescued from grain bin in southeast MN

ROCHESTER, Minn. - First responders from the Lewiston Fire Department have rescued an 80-year-old man who was trapped in a grain bin south of Lewiston Thursday.

Officials say the man appeared to be uninjured but he was taken to the hospital as a precaution. The man was rescued from the grain bin about 2 p.m. Thursday.

The man was stuck in the bin for more than three hours.

Winona County Sheriff Dave Brand said the rescue happened at a farm about three miles south of Lewiston at 25764 County Road 25.

According to our NBC affiliate KTTC, crews drained the bin in an attempt to reach the man. A neighbor at the scene said the man went inside the bin while an auger was running and got his foot stuck.
