School bus crash in St. Paul

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Seven people were hospitalized with minor injuries after a school bus crashed into a house in St. Paul on Friday afternoon, according to authorities.

Police say the bus was bringing students from Highland Park Middle School and Highland Park Senior High School home for the day when it collided with a truck that failed to yield to the bus at Geranium Avenue and Weide Street North around 3 p.m. The bus then crashed into a house, and the truck was turned on its side.

Thirty-four students were on the bus at the time and all were examined by paramedics at the scene. The St. Paul Fire Department says seven people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

"While accidents do happen, we are fortunate that, from initial reports, all those involved appear to be OK," said Jackie Turner, Chief Operating Officer for St. Paul Public Schools.
