MN National Guardsman surprises family with homecoming

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - A Glencoe soldier made a splash as he returned home on Sunday and surprised his kids.

1st Lt. Nick Aldrich returned from a one-year deployment with the Minnesota Army National Guard's Cambridge-based 850th Engineering Company.

On Sunday, he descended into Mall of America's Sea Life aquarium dressed as "Scuba Claus."

Aldrich surprised his four children - a newborn baby he hasn't seen yet along with an 8-year-old, a 6-year-old and a 3-year-old.

Aldrich is one of a 150-person unit that has been responsible for clearing roads of improvised explosive devices.
