In the United States, women make up 51 percent of the U.S. population. But despite that number, there are relatively few high-profile female politicians in America.

But a new book is out to change that. The book is called She's Out There and it's a collection of essays by young girls and women, who aspire to one day lead the nation.

Friday morning on KARE 11 Sunrise, Grace Baltich and Chelsea Zimmerman, who are both featured in the book, discussed their writings with Tim McNiff.

Baltich was born and raised in Champlin and currently lives in Hanover. Having her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Social Work, Grace has worked as a Social Worker for 10 years. Grace serves on the Board of Directors for Northwest Hennepin Human Services Council, is the President of her AFSCME union Local 2685, and serves on the Executive Board for AFSCME Council 65. Grace ran for the State House of Representatives in District 32A in 2006 and 2008 and plans to run for public office again in the future.

Zimmerman will be a rising senior at Barnard College in New York City, where she is majoring in political science and has been elected president of her class for all four years. Chelsea is spending the summer working at the Legal Aid Society in the Bronx, and has previously interned at Legal Momentum, the Council on Foreign Relations, and the Brooklyn District Attorney's office. Her future plans include joining the Peace Corps and attending law school. She grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from Southwest High School.

Baltich and Zimmerman will hold a book signing on Saturday, August 15 from 3-5 p.m. at Wild Rumpus in Minneapolis.
