APPLE VALLEY, Minn. - A parent volunteer is charged with stealing from the Eastview High School senior party fund.
The Dakota County Attorney's Office says 38-year-old Jill Lynn Fiedler of Rosemount was the treasurer for the parent group planning the year-ending senior graduation party at Eastview High School. Prosecutors say Fiedler wrote checks to herself, withdrew cash and made payments to her own PayPal account while she acted as treasurer from October 2016 through February 2017.
In February parents discovered just over $8,700 missing from the fund. Fiedler was the only person with access to that bank account.
According to the criminal complaint filed in Dakota County when police officers interviewed Fiedler in March, she admitted to taking money from the fund. She claimed that some of the transactions for cash were made to purchase prizes for the party, but said she hadn't made the purchases yet. The defendant indicated that she thought she owed about $7,000 and that she could pay back $5,000 immediately. By April the parent group reported that none of the money had been returned.
Fiedler has been charged with one count of felony theft and a court date has been set for August 7, 2017.
