Pond Hockey Championships raise money for good cause

EXCELSIOR, Minn. - Hockey players battled the cold and each other at the North American Pond Hockey Championships.

Saturday's games on Lake Minnetonka determine who will play in the championship round on Sunday.

The real winner is the organization, Defending the Blue Line. All proceeds go to the charity, which helps military kids with their dream of playing hockey.

Cpt. Ben Hendrickson, of Bloomington, is about to deploy to Afghanistan with the Air Force.

"I know it means a lot to the guys out in the field and it's just something I can do right before I head out into the warmer temperatures," Hendrickson said laughing.
