Randy Shaver Golf Classic raises money for cancer research

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The golf portion of the Randy Shaver Celebrity Golf Classic was held on Monday after rain last week pushed the event back.

Still more than 60 groups took part in the charity event on Monday at Rush Creek Golf Club in Maple Grove.

There was a bit of rain in the morning, but the sun shined in the afternoon, but there was a lot more to smile about.

The event supports the efforts of the Randy Shaver Cancer Research and Community Fund. This is the charity's final fundraiser in it's calendar year. From July 1, 2013 to July 1, 2014, the fund has raised more than $560,000.

The money will be handed out in the form of grants to researchers and people who organize patient aid programs.
