Rice Lake logger rescues black bear

RICE LAKE, Wis. -- A black bear got caught in a precarious situation after getting its head stuck in a heavy, old milk can, according to a WEAU-TV report.

Darby Simpson told WEAU-TV that her boyfriend Garrett Smith, a logger in Rice Lake, Wis., found the struggling bear in a cornfield a few weeks ago.

Smith talked to the landowner and got permission to help the bear.

The entire ordeal was caught on camera. Simpson said the video was taken by the landowner.

It shows Smith operating the machine as he uses the claws to hold onto the can. The bear gets picked up and then wiggles out of the can and runs away back into the woods.
