BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- Hours after the Minnesota Lynx clinched the WNBA Championship, there wasn't a Lynx t-shirt, pennant or jersey to be found in the Twin Cities -- save one.
"Right now this is our only piece of Lynx merchandise. It's just a Maya Moore pennant," said Jesse Fronek of Pro Image at the Mall of America.
Fronek said the store typically stocks t-shirts, pennants and other Lynx gear. But the team's recent success just wiped out the store's inventory.
"Their hot streak came at a perfect time. The fans around here really needed something positive, so I think it helped both the team adn the demand for the product. Unfortunately, the product just hasn't been there," Fronek said.
And he isn't kidding.
KARE 11 called several area stores, and none of them said they carried Lynx gear.
But fans will be in luck soon. Pro Image has ordered a new shipment of official "championship" t-shirts that should arrive by Wednesday of next week. Fans can keep track of the shipment's arrival on the store's facebook page, at: Facebook.com/ProImage.MallofAmerica
