MANKATO, Minn. - The Mankato TV news anchor who was arrested in December for allegedly driving while drunk has been formally charged.

KEYC-TV's Annie Stensrud, 28, was arrested on Dec. 21 in North Mankato. Stensrud refused a breath test, was taken to the Nicollet County jail and later released.

The Mankato Free Press is reporting Stensrud was charged with one gross misdemeanor count and two misdemeanor counts of drunken driving. She is due in court on Feb. 28.

The Free Press, citing court filings in the case, says a urine test taken an hour after the arrest revealed Stensrud had a blood alcohol concentration of .31, nearly four times the legal limit of .08.

Her arrest came less than two weeks after Stensrud went on live news and was slurring her words. A video of that night's news titled "KEYC Mankato Minnesota news anchor drunk on air?" went viral. After that incident, KEYC General Manager Dennis Walhstrom told WCCO Radio that Stensrud had a bad reaction to medication she was taking because she had been sick.
