MINNEAPOLIS - Dozens of current and former players, coaches and administrative staff from the Minnesota Gophers football team plan to attend a funeral service Saturday in Jacksonville, Fla. for linebacker Gary Tinsley.
The 22-year-old Tinsley was found unresponsive by his roommate at their campus apartment at the University of Minnesota last Friday.
Medical personnel could not revive him. Tinsley was set to graduate in just a few weeks and had been one of the Gopher's leading tacklers the last two seasons.
Tinsley's funeral is Saturday morning at Abyssinia Baptist Church in his hometown of Jacksonville. The cause of Tinsley's death is still under investigation.
The University has set up a memorial for Tinsley.
