MINNEAPOLIS - The mother of Minnesota Gophers football player Gary Tinsley is expected to accept her late son's bachelor's degree Thursday.
The starting linebacker was found unresponsive in his dorm April 6 by his teammate and roommate Keanon Cooper. The 22-year-old Tinsley died of an enlarged heart.
The Gophers say other members of Tinsley's family will also attend the University of Minnesota spring commencement at Mariucci Arena. Tinsley earned a degree in business and marketing. Cooper tells the St. Paul Pioneer Press he's expecting it to be emotional because he knows the amount of effort it took to earn the degree.
