FARIBAULT, Minn. - A former Minnesota teacher faces felony child pornography charges. Lynn Seibel, 70, a former drama teacher at Shattuck-St. Mary's School in Faribault, is charged in Los Angeles County, California with one count of possession of child pornography.
The Los Angeles District Attorney's Office says police searched Seibel's home last week and confiscated his computer, which they say contained child pornography.
A felony criminal complaint says Seibel knowingly had pornography of individuals under the age of 18. He was arraigned August 15 and pleaded not guilty.
Seibel is listed as an inmate in the Los Angeles County jail roster, which shows he was arrested August 13.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) said Tuesday it's investigating criminal sexual conduct allegations involving a former employee and former students at Shattuck-St. Mary's. It has not confirmed Seibel is linked to that investigation, and says no charges have been filed.
Shattuck-St. Mary's released a statement Monday night saying the school is "fully cooperating" with an investigation into a former employee who left in 2003, but declined to release the person's name or elaborate on the nature of the probe. It says there is no reason to believe any current students, faculty or staff members are involved.
Seibel's personal website includes a resume listing his tenure as Shattuck-St. Mary's fine arts director from 1992-2003.
Seibel's resume also says he was a student adviser, dorm parent and received the school's teacher of the year award.
His resume and website say Seibel is now a professional actor living in Hollywood, where he has appeared in 60 film and television roles, with credits in several films, and on shows including The Big Bang Theory, Dallas, Murder She Wrote, Little House on the Prairie and various soap operas.
The resume says he earned a bachelors degree and two masters degrees at the University of Wisconsin at Madison and that he was a guest lecturer at St. Olaf College in Northfield.
On his Facebook page, Seibel says he is the father of two sons.
Seibel has a court date in Los Angeles County scheduled for August 27. He's being held on $100,000 bail.
