Submerged car discovered off boat landing in Scott Co.

LOUISVILLE TOWNSHIP, Minn. - A family embarking on a fishing adventure made an unexpected discovery under the surface of a Scott County lake Monday.

The couple and their two children were trying to launch their boat on Thole Lake in Louisville Township, just south of Shakopee.  They were backing it into the water when the boat or trailer made contact with something. That something ... was a tan Honda Accord that was submerged at the end of the ramp.

Three student teachers were eating their lunch when the incident occurred. They told KARE 11's Zachary Lashway that the car was filled with clothing, bottles and other items. A tow truck was called in to remove the vehicle from the water.

At this point it appears the car was unoccupied, but the Scott County Sheriff's Department does have a boat in the water searching the scene. Authorities have not yet been able to get in contact with the registered owner of the vehicle.
