GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - After two decades of sharing his love of news, sports and community with viewers across Minnesota and western Wisconsin, Tim McNiff took part in his final broadcast on KARE 11 Friday.
The outpouring of kindness and support shown on Sunrise is a reflection of the relationships Tim has forged in his 20-plus years at the station. Everyone from Vikings mascot Ragnar and Timberwolves/Lynx exec Brad Ruiter to the Vikings Skoal drum line, Goldy Gopher, TC Bear, Nordy, Crunch and the Minnesota United Loon showed up to share in the love. Capping off the excellent morning was a breakfast feast that came courtesy of Tim's friends at the St. Paul Hotel and Grill, and a custom cocktail named after Mr. McNiff, whipped up by Tria in North Oaks.
Fittingly, the broadcast ended with Tim in the backyard, surrounded by his wife Amy, daughters Bridget and Haiey, and his entire KARE 11 morning crew that has become family over 10 years time. He moves on to a new challenge in the media relations industry.
Congratulations to the pride of White Bear Lake, a guy who never forgot where he came from, and never took for granted the viewers who kept him company all these 20 years.
