Suspect sought after 5 robberies in south Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS – Five businesses were robbed at gunpoint in south Minneapolis early Tuesday morning and police believe one suspect is responsible.

In all four Super Americas and one Walgreens were robbed between 4 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. The suspect started at a Super America located at 6000 Portland Avenue South before continuing onto a Walgreens at 2426 Hennepin Avenue. He then moved onto three more Super Americas located at 2501 Hennepin Avenue, 2200 Lyndale Avenue, and 4320 E. Lake Street.

The suspect brandished a black semi-automatic handgun at each location.

The suspect is described as a heavy-set black male about 20-30 years old. He was dressed in all black with a black knit hat and a black face mask covering the lower part of his face. Police say he was wearing glasses in at least of the robberies.

Cash and a small amount of narcotics from the Walgreens were taken by the suspect.
