ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. -- There were a whole lot of hugs given out at the St. Louis Park Police Department Tuesday.
In late July, Jodi Johnston-Benifield of St. Louis Park decided to make lawn signs that read "Thank You SLP Police Department." It was her way of showing support for local police in light of recent violence against officers across the country.
She originally made 150 signs. She ended up making and selling more than 700.
On Tuesday, Johnston-Benifield and her family delivered $1,250 of the sales directly to the police department. Several department staff members and officers were there to thank her for the support.
Similar signs are also catching on in other communities including Golden Valley, Edina and Bloomington.
