FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. - Maybe it was the comfortable weather. Perhaps the new food offerings, or the super-cool west end market.
Whatever the reason, officials with the Minnesota State Fair have reason to crow: They set a new overall attendance record, breaking the 1.8 million visitor threshold for the first time in history, with 1,824,830 paying customers. The previous record was 1,790,497, which was set in 2009.
Two daily attendance records were also set this year, on Tuesday, August 26 with 133,595 visitors, and Saturday, August 30, with 252,092 fair visitors.
Eyes are already focused on the 2015 Minnesota State Fair, which runs from August 27 to Labor Day, September 7.
