GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - The most overlooked and arguably the most important word in health is 'balance.'
Better body balance makes it easier to move, helps prevent injury, and is "use it or lose it" in principle so you can practice it at any age.
Fitness guru Chris Freytag visited KARE 11 sunrise to show how balance training aids can improve your core stability, body balance and agility. Anytime you make the surface underneath you less stable or smaller, you use more balance. For example, you can start by just balancing on one foot…a smaller base. Or you can stand on a thick exercise mat…less stable.
For some people this is not simple, but can be worked on. Try some of the fun balance tools at the health clubs and sporting goods stores. Balance pads, discs and Bosu® Balls are all great tools that are fairly affordable. Lift weights while balancing, do core exercises on these balance tools, and gain control of your life.
