Mpls. and St. Paul declare snow emergency

MINNEAPOLIS - Both Minneapolis and St. Paul have declared snow emergencies following the Christmas Eve snow.

The St. Paul snow emergency begins at 9 p.m. on December 25 when all night plow routes will be plowed.

The Minneapolis parking restrictions also begin at 9 p.m.

Minneapolis snow emergency parking rules:

Tonight, Dec.25 , 9 p.m. to 8 a.m. (Day 1)

Do not park on either side of a Snow Emergency route until the street is fully plowed.

Thursday, Dec. 26, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. (Day 2)

Do not park on the even side of a non-Snow Emergency route until that side of the street is fully plowed, or on EITHER side of a parkway until the parkway is fully plowed.

Friday, Dec. 27, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. (Day 3)

Do not park on the odd side of a non-Snow Emergency route until that side of the street is fully plowed.

St. Paul snow emergency parking rules:

Vehicles which are not moved from night plow routes by 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 25 will be ticketed and towed.

Beginning at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26, all day plow routes will be plowed. Day plow routes include all non-posted east-west residential streets and the non-posted side of north-south residential streets. If the street is not marked as a "Night Plow Route," it is considered a Day Plow Route.

Vehicles which are not moved from Day Plow Routes by 8 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, will be ticketed and towed.

Parking is banned until streets are plowed full width to the curb.
