Justice Dept. will extend benefits to same-sex couples
In a major victory for same-sex marriage rights, the Justice Department has announced it will grant married gay and lesbian couples the same rights in legal matters as other married couples. The Justice Department will issue a memo today to its employees instructing them to give lawful same-sex marriages full and equal recognition to the greatest extent possible under the law.
Obama to host French president
President Obama is hosting French President Francois Hollande this week, though it comes with its own unusual dynamic that the White House couldn't have anticipated when it announced plans to honor Hollande more than two months ago.
