NEW YORK - Local and federal investigators will have to determine if a piece of landing gear found in lower Manhattan came from one of the planes destroyed on 9/11.
It was found wedged in the narrow space between two buildings not far from Ground Zero.
Police say the twisted metal part has cables and levers and is about 4 feet long. It's also said to have a Boeing identification number. The piece of equipment was discovered Wednesday by surveyors inspecting the lower Manhattan site.
Police say the medical examiner's office will do an evaluation to determine whether to sift the soil around two buildings for possible human remains.
