ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Great Minnesota Get Together is off to a pretty good start.
Attendance for Thursday's opening day was 106,852. That combined with the 121,941 people who came through the gates on Friday, equaled a pretty good two-day total of 228,793.
That's up about 8,000 people from last year and 3,500 people from 2011 over the same time span.
The record for the first day of the fair came in 2010 when 119,145 people attended. The very next day that same year, 132,738 went to the fair. The two-day total 251,883 was the biggest start in Minnesota State Fair history.
But the record total attendance came in 2009 when 1,790,497 people came to the fair.
Will Minnesotans top that mark this year? We'll have to wait and see.
