MINNEAPOLIS - The Minneapolis Fire Department did something a little different on Thursday. They invited the media to experience what it's like to be a firefighter for the day.
KARE 11 reporter Jana Shortal went along for the experience of doing a rope rescue and car crash extrication. She even went into a burning building.
About two dozen other members of the media also went through the training called "Media OPS 101."
Minneapolis Fire Chief John Fruetel said they do this so media members, who often come to fire scenes to report on an incident, know what the firefighters they are reporting on are actually doing.
It was a chance to walk in their shoes--or, more realistically, their boots.
