Two international students attending college in Minnesota have been named Rhodes Scholars.

Diana Fu, a senior at the University of Minnesota, and Keon West, a senior at Macalester College, were awarded the prestigious scholarships to study at Oxford University in England.

Fu applied for the award through Canada, where she is a citizen, and was one of 11 Canadians named Rhodes Scholars on Tuesday. Her parents emigrated from China to Canada and then to Eden Prairie, where Fu graduated from high school.

She has studied global studies and political science at the university's Twin Cities campus and at Oxford plans to pursue development studies, which includes economic and political development and anthropology.

West applied for the program through Jamaica, his home country, and was the only Jamaican selected for the scholarship. He has studied French and psychology at Macalester. At Oxford, he plans to study experimental psychology.

Samsher Gill, who graduated from Edina High School and the University of Chicago, was named one of 32 American Rhodes Scholars earlier this week.
