Republican congressional candidate Michele Bachmann made her name fighting against gay marriage in Minnesota.

But she says she doesn't plan to make a big issue out of a New Jersey court ruling that could clear a path to legalized same-sex unions there.

The New Jersey Supreme Court ruled yesterday that gay couples should have the same rights as heterosexual ones. But the court left it up to New Jersey lawmakers to determine if that will mean marriage or arrangements such as civil unions.

Bachmann's bill to outlaw gay unions under the Minnesota constitution never cleared the state Senate.

But she told reporters today that the New Jersey high court's decision is exactly what she was warning against ? courts overruling legislatures.
