On a day when the wind chill is well below zero, we ran into a man whose top speed measures only slightly above it.

At two-and-half miles an hour, Lee Crafton and his two dogs have made it to Benton, County Minnesota in a homemade covered wagon pulled by two draft horses named Max and Tom.

They started their journey August 9th in East Glacier, Montana, with plans to reach Boston sometime next summer.

?You do a trip like this and you just kind of let the trip happen,? says Lee.

The Montana horse-logger started planning the trip after his cancer diagnosis. ?I chose to ignore everybody,? says Lee. ?The first part of my treatment is to do something I love doing, be happy doing it, and be around a lot of good people.?

The good people he speaks of are strangers along the way who?ve been providing him with food and hay and a place to park his wagon each night. Even on the cold nights he sleeps in the wagon with a propane heater to keep himself warm.

Lee plans to pick up his childhood sweetheart in New York then travel to Boston, where he plans to let his horses ?put their feet in the water.?

Over the next few days Lee?s route will take him through the communities of Princeton, Cambridge, North Branch and Stillwater, before he heads into Wisconsin.

As of February 19, Lee had made it to North Branch. He spent Sunday night at a farm outside of town.
