The University of Minnesota Police Department is investigating allegations of criminal sexual conduct against three football players.

The three players were taken in for questioning Friday evening. We are not naming them because they have not been charged.

"After receiving a complaint early this morning, we began an aggressive investigation," said UMPD Chief Greg Hestness. "Three individuals have been taken into custody and our investigation is on-going," Hestness says.

Head Football Coach Tim Brewster was informed late Friday afternoon and immediately suspended the three players until the investigation is complete.

"Obviously, this is disappointing news for any coach to receive," said Brewster. "There is an on-going investigation and we will cooperate fully with law enforcement on this matter," he added.

The news comes on the eve of the Gophers spring game which is set for noon on Saturday.
