We know the Vikings are very happy with their first round pick, but how about the fans?

More than 3,000 Vikings die-hards gathered at Winter Park Headquarters in Eden Prairie today to watch the draft unfold.

Many of the fans at the draft party wore Vikings jerseys with the names of their favorite players. They were all hoping that the next name to go on a jersey is a good one.

Among those fans, there were two clear choices: Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn and Oklahoma running back Adrian Peterson.

Paul Scioli, who grew up in Oakdale but now lives in Wisconsin, was on the phone with his brother Brian who lives in Boston just as the Vikings first pick was about to be announced.

Paul said, ?I want Brady Quinn, he wants Adrian Peterson, so we?ll see what happens. We?ll get one of the two. ?

Paul kept his brother on the phone so he could hear fan reaction. When the Vikings chose Adrian Peterson, the crowd cheered and so did Paul. He may have wanted Quinn but he was still happy with Peterson.

Zachary March liked the Peterson pick. He says, ?I think that was a good pick. We didn't need a quarterback since we got Tavaris Jackson.?

Still, some think Peterson won't be enough.

Chaska resident, Kelly (who didn?t want to share her last name) said, ?We need a whole lot of help is what I think. We need more than a running back. We need somebody who can quarterback.?

In other words, a couple more big names that fans would be proud to wear in purple.

The Vikings kick off their regular season at the Metrodome on September 9th against the Atlanta Falcons.
