Sunday's disaster against Dallas at Target Center left the Minnesota Timberwolves at 4 - 29. In the era of 82 games, that is the 7th worst start through 33 games played according to ESPN.
Monday, following the team's practice Kevin McHale, Vice President of Basketball
Operations said "You are what your record says you are." And fans seem to
agree. The team McHale oversees has lost roughly 900 fans per game at Target Center this season compared to last.
McHale acknowledges the team went young this season. "We're trying to find out the core group of guys we can go forward with," says McHale.
The all-time worst 82 game season belongs to the 1972 - 73 Philadelphia 76ers at 9 -73.
Long time NBA writer Steve Aschburner, who currently writes for SI.com, does not believe the Timberwolves will break that infamous record.
"It's hard to win that few and particularly now because the Timberwolves may end up winning games in April, simply because the other team isn't so driven to win them,"
according to Aschburner.
