Six years ago, Minnesotans could hardly wait until the arrival of a Krispy Kreme franchise. Today, that franchise is leaving the state, closing their last store.

The famous glazed doughnut store opened its first local store in Maple Grove in 2002 bringing doughnut delirium to Minnesota.

In the early days of the store, lines of people and cars would form just to get a shot at getting some warm glazed doughnuts.

This morning, the store is closed along with the three other metro area Krispy Kreme's.

Analysts suggest the decline for Krispy Kreme began when too many stores went up too quickly.
