A major restoration project is underway at the Split Rock Lighthouse on the north shore of Lake Superior.
Constructions workers have enclosed the 98-year-old structure with a shell of scaffolding.
They're repainting, resealing and replacing parts of the historic building so it'll withstand another century of Lake Superior storms.
Completion of the project is scheduled for mid-July, but the lighthouse will reopen to visitors for its season opener on May 15th.
The Split Rock Lighthouse is located 20 miles northeast of Two Harbors on Highway 61.
