The IDS Center, the U.S. Bancorp building, the Wells Fargo Center and other Minneapolis skyscrapers went mostly dark for one hour last night.
The Stone Arch Bridge and some buildings in the theater district also turned out the lights as the city joined the global Earth Hour event.
Earth Hour is an event designed to encourage the world to conserve energy.
Earth Hour started on the other side of the globe, as the lights went out in Sydney, Australia. After Australia, lights will go out in major Asian cities before moving to Europe and North America as the clock ticks on.
In Minneapolis, the lights went out between 8 to 9 p.m.
