The University of Minnesota says is getting the largest gift ever given to any university in Minnesota.

Minnesota Masonic Charities made a $65 million pledge to the University's Cancer Center.

In recognition, the university says the cancer center will be renamed the Masonic Cancer Center.

The Masons have a long history of donating to cancer research at the university. The school says the newest gift brings the total over the past half-century to $100 million. Doctor Douglas Yee, the director of the research center, says the Masons' gift will significantly expand capabilities for research and treatment.
