Army responds to bad barrack conditions exposed by WI father
PENTAGON -- The army is responding after the father of a Wisconsin soldier made bad barracks conditions at Fort Bragg public. Army officials say they are inspecting every barracks building worldwide after finding bad conditions at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Ed Frawley of Menomonie went to visit his son Jeff at Fort Bragg when the sergeant returned after 15 months in Afghanistan. Frawley says the conditions were so bad he took pictures and posted them on you-tube. Some of the photos show drain pipes stuffed with kleenex, peeling lead-based paint, and a bathroom drain plugged with sewage. Brigadier General Dennis Rogers is responsible for maintaining barracks throughout the Army. He told reporters at the Pentagon most inspections were done last weekend, and he hasn't seen the final results. But he says in cases where extensive repairs are necessary, soldiers will be moved until the fixes are completed. Rogers acknowledged the conditions at Fort Bragg that were shot on home video by Frawley. Rogers says, "we let our soldiers down."
