Governor Tim Pawlenty's voice has been raspy and rough all week.

No wonder.

Today he revealed he got hit in the esophagus during an old timers hockey game last Friday.

He was hit in the throat by another player's shoulder pad and helmet. The resulting injury has left the Governor's voice noticably deeper.

Pawlenty says his wife wants him to see a doctor, but he's going to wait a while longer to see if it gets better on its own.

The Governor's office wasn't sure whose shoulder took out his voice, but they did say it was unintentional contact.

Governor Pawlenty regularly plays in "old-timer" hockey games, as do some lawmakers.
