KARE wins National Edward R. Murrow Award
KARE 11 News has won a National Edward R. Murrow Award for "Spot News Coverage" of the I-35W bridge collapse. KARE 11 had continuous coverage for six hours when the old I-35W bridge fell during rush hour on August 1, 2007 killing 13 people and injuring many others. The National Edward R. Murrow Awards winners were announced Tuesday morning. KARE is the only media outlet in the Twin Cities to win a national award for 2007. This is KARE's 13th National Edward R. Murrow Award. "It's a wonderful honor and recognition of the tremendous amount of tough, consistent and sensitive work the entire staff put in to make this possible," said KARE 11 News Director Tom Lindner.
