DULUTH, Minn. -- The College of St. Scholastica is finding football is a man magnet.

The Duluth-based school's homecoming this weekend includes a football game for the first time. School officials say adding football to the athletics program has attracted more male students.

Men now make up about 34 percent of the student body, compared to 30 percent before.

St. Scholastica stopped being an all-female college nearly 40 years ago. Eric Berg, the vice president for enrollment management, says some people don't realize it.

Berg says St. Scholastica considered several ideas for attracting more male students before choosing football.

Berg says women want to go to college where there are men.
