Anti-Coleman graffiti found at local salon
Minneapolis police are investigating another incident of what appears to be political graffiti. This time, a Twin Cities business was hit by a political vandal. Jon English is a popular Uptown Minneapolis salon. Over the weekend, spray painted graffiti showed up at the back of the building on Lake and Holmes. The vandalism is written with black and white spray paint. The word 'retire' appears twice, as well as the name 'Norm.' There were also some other words and pictures spray painted there that are too profane to show you on television or at kare11.com. Minneapolis police think the spray painted name may have been referring to Senator Norm Coleman. And the writing style is similar to vandalism spray painted on the senator's St. Paul home last week. The homes of five other lawmakers were also hit. While they say there could be a copycat vandal out there, Minneapolis police believe last week's cases and this latest one in Uptown may be connected. "That is something we're trying to determine if this is part of it. We're looking to see if this is a place one of these people may frequent so we're looking for the connection. We're working with the Capitol police on figuring this out," says Sgt. Jesse Garcia with the Minneapolis Police Department. "I think they've stepped over the line and they should be caught and held accountable for this." Police don't have any suspects yet, but say they have stepped up patrols in the neighborhoods where the vandals have struck. And there is no comment on the latest graffiti incident from Senator Coleman's camp. One of his campaign officials referred us to local law enforcement. Vandals targeted the homes of six prominent local politicians last Wednesday. Keith Ellison, Amy Klobuchar, Jim Ramstad, John Kline, Michele Bachmann and Norm Coleman's residences were all spray painted with graffiti. No arrests have been made and no suspects are in custody in connection with this weekend's spray painting incident. T here has been no official word from Norm Coleman's campaign office yet.
