Go to jail, or embarrass yourself in public?
That was the choice for 22 year old Shane McQuillan in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on Thanksgiving Day.
He chose the embarrassment.
McQuillan crashed his car into the gates of the local waste water treatment plant last March. His blood alcohol level registered .238.
The judge gave him the choice of spending 20 days in jail, or a whole day telling the world he did something "stupid."
McQuillan chose the shorter sentence, and spent eight hour outside the plant Thanksgiving Day, wearing the sign which proclaimed his mistake.
He declined to comment to reporters.
