A large fight broke out Sunday night at a Coon Rapids roller rink.

Police were called to Cheap Skate around 9:30 p.m. after an off-duty officer working security at the business called for emergency backup.

Officers from numerous agencies responded to the call to help breakup and disperse a crowd of more than 1,000 people.

Capacity at Cheap Skate is 1,200, says Coon Rapids Police Sgt. Kevin Smith. The building was filled to capacity, plus another 300 or 400 were waiting to get in. The fight started in the parking lot when one group was leaving. Other fights broke out inside, Smith says.

Police say three people were injured and two were taken to the hospital, but none of the injuries are thought to be serious.

No arrests were made. Smith says 95 percent of the kids followed police orders.

Cheap Skate was hosting a special event. Police initially told KARE 11 it was B96 night, but the radio station says it did not sponsor the event. It was orgainzed by Shine On Entertainment, which hired one of B96's disc jockeys for the event.

The event was supposed to last until 11 p.m. but ended early due to the disturbance.
