Murder of pregnant teen tears at the fabric of her neighborhood
Police are calling it a crime that tears at the fabric of the neighborhood. Minneapolis police trying to solve the murder of 15-year-old Annshalike Hamilton and her unborn child are giving some insight about the investigation of what they consider a case of two murdered children. Police say Hamilton was six to seven months pregnant and was reported missing in November. We're told she was a student at Patrick Henry High School in Minneapolis. Hamilton's body was found about two weeks ago in the garage of a boarded up house in north Minneapolis, not far from her own home. Police call the case a priority and have assigned four investigators, instead of the usual two. The medical examiner says Hamilton died of blunt force trauma and her death resulted in the death of the unborn child. Investigators are now trying to establish a timeline, starting with the report of her disappearance. "She may have come into contact with various people during that time. We're looking to see who she was with, who she spent time with from the point she was reported missing up to the point she was found. We're trying to fill in gaps to see who might have information about her whereabouts and what might have led up to her being in the garage," says Sgt. Jesse Garcia with the Minneapolis Police Department. So where is the father of the unborn child? Police say they have an idea who the father might be, but won't say if they know where he is or if he might be a suspect. KARE 11 did speak with Annshalike's family. They did not want to go on camera, but describe her as an innocent child with many friends. Police are hoping those friends come forward with information that will help solve her murder.
