LONG PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Authorities say the farmhouse fire that killed a 3-year-old boy near Long Prairie was an accident.

Todd County sheriff's Investigator Scott Dirkes says the fire is still under investigation, and the cause should be available this week.

Lucas James Ewertsen was killed in the early Sunday fire. The boy was sleeping in a second-story bedroom.

Sheriff Peter Mikkelson says the boy was living in the farmhouse with his parents, grandparents and uncle.

The boy's grandfather, Walter Ewertsen, suffered smoke inhalation.

The two-story farmhouse was destroyed.
