Budget officials expect Minnesota to receive roughly $4 billion from the economic stimulus along with some additional money from grants.
Governor Pawlenty says while the stimulus isn't what he would design, Minnesota will gladly take it's slice of the money and put it to good use.
"For example, we want to use all the infrastructure money to build some roads and bridges and hopefully some ports and rails and some other things," Pawlenty says. "And that it will not only be good modernizing our infrastructure, it will be good putting people to work building it," he concludes.
Governor Pawlenty's top finance official has said some of the stimulus money comes with strings attached meaning the Legislature may have to change some laws to make sure the state qualifies for the cash.
