Hundreds of advocates for the disabled gathered on the steps of the State Capitol Saturday to protest Governor Pawlenty's plan to balance the budget.
The state faces a budget deficit of more than $4.5 billion over the next two years. And advocates fear funding for programs that provide personal care attendants, and medical and dental care for the disabled could get cut.
These services help people like Garrett Thornberg who is autistic and blind. Thornberg has a personal care attendant.
"She helps me with independence skills and cooking and going to the store and buying and returning things," says Thornberg.
Garrett wrote a letter to the Governor offering to introduce himself.
