Chanhassen named #2 best place to live by Money Magazine
Chanhassen has it all. Sunshine, dinner theatre, green grass, who wouldn't want to live here? For a city known for dining and theatre, finally a new claim to fame. It is Money magazine's second choice best small city to live in nationwide. "It's that small town where you go to the grocery store or the parks and you see folks that you know and that makes it special," Chanhassen Mayor Tom Furlong said. The ranking awarded was based on a number of factors, like the city's low unemployment rate at 6.1 percent, falling property taxes and rising incomes for many. "Very proud of the ranking, but it's humbling too, there are lots of great places to live in Minnesota," Furlong said. For those at the beach, the news was no surprise."The beaches, going to see baseball, it's just a wonderful community to live in," long time resident Molly Ambrose said. And play in. The view from Lake Ann beach is nothing to frown upon. Last year Plymouth ranked #1 for small cities nationwide. But that city wasn't eligible this year because its population is more than 50-thousand. Boasting a population of 23,700, Chanhassen was beat out by Louisville, CO. Click here for more on Chanhassen.
