MADISON, Wis. -- Here's the skinny on Wisconsin residents: They're fat.
A new report from the state Department of Health Services released Wednesday says at least half the adults in every Wisconsin county are either overweight or obese. The report says one in four Wisconsin high school students are overweight or obese.
The report says the obesity rate for adults in Wisconsin has more than doubled since 1990.
Department of Health Services Secretary Karen Timberlake says obesity is an epidemic that, if reversed, could save billions in medical costs.
Timberlake says everyone including parents, teachers, businesses and government employees have a stake in turning the trends around.
